Tại sao học Tiếng Italy qua tình huống food & dining?

Food is the fastest way to feel at home in Italy, and the phrases in this deck are the ones you will use at every meal. The Italian restaurant ritual is a four-act structure — antipasto, primo, secondo, dolce — and the script for ordering it is the same whether you are at a trattoria in Trastevere, a pizzeria in Naples, or an osteria in Verona. Servers in Italy do not hover; they expect you to know what you want and to ask when you are ready. LangOria's food-phrase deck is built around the ten sentences that cover walking in, ordering, asking about ingredients, paying, and leaving. Each phrase is paired with audio shadowing and a culture tip on the coperto, the servizio, and why you should never ask for a cappuccino after noon. Italian food vocabulary is regional — what Romans call 'saltimbocca', Florentines call their own, and Sicilians have an entirely different grammar of street food. But the ten phrases here work from the Alps to Sicily. The waiter will not expect you to speak Italian; they will be delighted that you tried. Food Italian is the most rewarding ten minutes of any language course: you rehearse in the app, you use it for lunch, and the next morning the barista remembers your order.

Văn hóa & ứng xử

In Italy, the coperto (cover charge, €1-3 per person) appears on every restaurant bill — it covers bread, table service, and linen, and is not a tip. A servizio (service charge, often 10-15%) may also be added in tourist areas; check the menu footer. If servizio is not included, leaving 5-10% in cash is appreciated but never obligatory. Coffee culture has strict unwritten rules: cappuccino is a breakfast drink only — ordering one after lunch marks you instantly as a tourist; an espresso after a meal is correct. At the bar (standing), espresso costs €1; at a table, €3. 'Da portare via' means 'to go'. Bread on the table is for eating with the meal, not for mopping up sauce — though Italians do enjoy the 'scarpetta' (cleaning the plate with bread) in informal settings. Dietaries: 'Sono vegetariano/a' (I am vegetarian), 'Sono allergico/a a...' (I am allergic to...). 'Senza glutine' means gluten-free. Water comes as 'naturale' (still) or 'frizzante' (sparkling); tap water ('acqua di rubinetto') is rarely served — order a bottle. 'Il conto, per favore' asks for the bill; splitting it is 'dividere il conto'.

Cách học tình huống này

Spend two to three days on the food deck before any restaurant visit in Italy. Drill the dialogue out loud with a partner or a recording; restaurant Italian is muscle memory, not grammar. On the day, walk in with a clear script: 'Buonasera, un tavolo per due' → 'Possiamo vedere il menù?' → 'Vorrei il... per favore' → 'Il conto, per favore' → 'Grazie, era delizioso.' The ten-minute daily loop is enough; food Italian is the most rewarding ten minutes of any course. Three concrete drills: (1) Pre-meal — open the deck and listen to the audio twice, then close your eyes and reproduce all ten sentences from memory; (2) Mid-meal — try one phrase you have not yet used, e.g. 'È piccante questo piatto?' even if you are not ordering spicy food, just to build confidence with the server; (3) Post-meal — note the one phrase that surprised you (the coperto? the cappuccino rule?) and add it to your spaced-repetition deck. By month one, you should handle a server's curveball without freezing.
