なぜbusiness & meetingsのインドネシア語を学ぶのか?

Business Indonesian is the language of the world's fourth-most-populous nation and one of its fastest-growing economies, and a small set of formal phrases changes how you are read in a meeting room in Jakarta or Surabaya. Bahasa Indonesia is built on a hierarchy of respect: the difference between 'Anda' (formal you), 'Bapak / Ibu' (Mr / Mrs), and 'kamu' (informal you) is the difference between sounding professional and sounding casual. LangOria's business deck is built around the ten phrases that come up in every meeting and every follow-up email — scheduling, agendas, status updates, and the relationship-first etiquette that Indonesian business culture expects. What separates professional Indonesian from conversational Indonesian is not grammar but register: the same idea said with 'saya' and 'Bapak' sounds respectful; said with 'gue' and 'lu' it sounds like a Jakarta street argument. Indonesian meetings open with ten minutes of personal warmth — family, hometown, food — before the agenda, and skipping it reads as cold. Master these ten phrases and you can walk into an Indonesian meeting and carry your weight even at A2. The same phrases double as the opening lines of the follow-up email you send that night.

文化とエチケット

Indonesian business culture runs on 'gotong royong' (mutual cooperation) and hierarchy. Address older men as 'Pak' (Bapak) and older women as 'Bu' (Ibu) until invited to first names; 'Anda' is formal but can feel distant, so 'Bapak / Ibu' is safer. Meetings open with ten minutes of personal small talk — family, hometown, food — before business; jumping straight to the agenda reads as rude. 'Jam karet' applies to business too: a 10:00 meeting may start at 10:20 without apology. A direct refusal is avoided; 'nanti saja' (later) or 'mungkin' (maybe) often mean no — learn to read the silence. Exchange business cards with both hands or the right hand, and study the card before pocketing it. Friday prayer (12:00-13:30) is protected — avoid scheduling then. Relationships come before contracts; expect a coffee or meal before any deal is signed. Emails open with 'Yth. Bapak / Ibu' (to the honourable Mr / Mrs) and close with 'Hormat saya' (yours respectfully). Hierarchy is pronounced: the boss decides, and public disagreement causes loss of face.

このシナリオの学習方法

Spend five to seven days on the business deck before your first Indonesian-language meeting. Review the ten phrases with spaced repetition until they come out cold, then drill the email templates out loud. In real life, listen for the register your colleagues use and mirror it — if they say 'kita diskusi', you say 'kita diskusi'. The ten-minute daily loop plus one real meeting per week is enough to reach working Indonesian in three months. Layer three habits: (1) Before each meeting, read the agenda once and underline the two phrases you will most likely need ('kita bahas status ini', 'bisa pindah ke hari Kamis?') — your pre-rehearsal. (2) After each meeting, write the follow-up email in Indonesian, even if a colleague would accept English — the register is locked in by writing. (3) Once a week, rewrite one email you would normally have written in English. By week two your email turnaround should be faster; by month three you should be the colleague who replies in Indonesian.
